Wisdom Teeth Extractions in
Little Elm and Frisco

Wisdom teeth are your third set of molars that come in during your late teens or early 20s. Most people end up needing to have their wisdom teeth removed because they don’t fit into their mouths well. This causes problems like crowding or shifting of surrounding teeth, infections or abscesses, gum and jaw problems, and other issues. While there are a lucky few who don’t have problems with their wisdom teeth, most people will need a wisdom teeth removal procedure at some point. The earlier wisdom teeth are removed the better. At Woodlake Family Dentistry, we can complete the procedure right here in our office and keep you comfortable while we work!

What Are Wisdom Teeth?

Most people have a total of four wisdom teeth. Typically there are two in the top arch and two in the bottom arch, although this is different for some people. The best way for us to tell how many wisdom teeth you have, where they are, and if they’re likely to come in soon is through X-rays. These images may also be able to let us know if they’re going to come in properly or if you’re at risk for your wisdom teeth to become impacted. This is when they come in at an odd angle and aren’t able to fully emerge from the gums. Impacted teeth are at high risk of developing an infection. Wisdom teeth can erupt at almost any angle and can have a big effect on the surrounding teeth, so it’s important that we keep a close watch on them if you still have yours. The earlier we remove them, the less risk they pose to your healthy teeth.

Keeping You Comfortable During Wisdom Teeth Removal

Removing your wisdom teeth requires oral surgery. We have to cut into your gums and remove the teeth and roots. The thought of going to the dentist along with having surgery makes many people anxious, but rest assured that we’ll keep you comfortable and sedated throughout the procedure. We also send you home with post-op care instructions to help you manage your pain and keep the area clean and healthy. Make sure you check back in with us at the recommended time so we can make sure your mouth is healing properly.

Wisdom Teeth Extraction Cost

Your insurance may cover some of the cost of your extraction. Our team is happy to check your benefits, as well as file and track your claims for you. Call our office to find out if we accept your insurance. If you’re uninsured, we can make the cost more manageable by breaking up your out-of-pocket costs into monthly payments. We also have an in-house membership plan that can save you money on most of our dental procedures. Speak with a team member to learn more or enroll!

From beginning to end this office was welcoming and warm. I must say so detailed. This is the best my teeth have felt in years. Like I was so confident when I left and didn’t feel like things were being told to me just because. My entire family comes to this office and I’m glad I am here now!
